The village of East Prawle lies 1 mile inland from the spectacular South-West Coastal path. The area is quiet and unspoilt and offers a wide selection of outdoor pursuits to the holidaymaker throughtout the year.
A short drive away are beautiful sandy beachs at Gara Rock and East Portlemouth. At East Portlemouth, on the near shore of Salcombe estuary, there is a choice, all with fine golden sand and shallow water making them perfect for famillies. There is also a cafe and other amenities. A passenger ferry crosses over to the sailing centre of Salcombe, where there are excellent shops, restaurants and pubs. At Whitestrand Quay, boat hire, sea
cruises and fishing trips are available.
Within easy walking distance of Locks Farm are Horseley Cove and the picturesque Maceley Cove. East Prawle has a shop and cafe open during the season, and The Pigs Nose Inn. Nearby there is a bakery at Frogmore, a garage and general store at Charleton and larger shops in the attractive market town of Kingsbridge.
Prawle Point is Devon's most southerly point, and is a good vantage point for birdwatchers, especially during migration. Kingsbridge estuary and Slapton Ley abound in wildfowl and waders and there are public hides at Torcross, Beesands and Charleton Marsh. |
